The Mounted Police facility encompasses 15 acres, and the barn consists of 46 stalls. The horses are a combination of donated and purchased and they currently have 38 in their herd. Our tour will start in their roll call room with one of their officers talking about the mounted unit and answering any questions. We will then go out in the barn to meet and feed the horses. Please only bring full sized carrots to feed the horses.
This is an interesting tour to understand the importance of our mounted patrols. Tour is only offered during the week, and we are only able to bring 25 people so please register on-line so we have an accurate head count.
We will meet at the Police facility at 10:45 for our 11:00 start. After our tour we will have lunch at Papa's BBQ at 10810 Eastex Fwy. which is just around the corner from the barn.
