SIRE THERAPEUTIC HORSEMANSHIP RECEIVES $8,000 CONTRIBUTION FROM THE

SAM HOUSTON CORVETTE CLUB

Funds Will Provide Scholarships for Four SIRE Riders
SPRING, TEXAS, February 1, 2025 – SIRE Therapeutic Horsemanship and the Sam
Houston Corvette Club today announced an $8,000 contribution the Club is making that will
fund full tuition for four SIRE riders. SIRE, founded in the Houston area in 1983 and based in
Hockley, Texas, is dedicated to providing a community where horses help people with
disabilities and challenges to live their best life.
Commenting on the contribution, SIRE Executive Director Joe Wappelhorst, said, “This
gift will make a significant impact not only for the riders, but their entire family. I am grateful to
the Sam Houston Corvette Club and their commitment to the incredible healing power that
horses can have with people.” 
Mike Ewers, Sam Houston Corvette Club President, added, "While Corvette ownership is
a central aspect of membership in the Sam Houston Corvette Club (SHCC), our organization’s
values extend far beyond just cars. This contribution to SIRE is emblematic of SHCC’s
commitment to giving back to the community in support of those in need. We are both
delighted and humbled to support SIRE's impactful work."
SIRE serves adults and children with a wide variety of special needs including, but not
limited to, cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome, multiple sclerosis, developmental delay,
attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury. Through
equine-assisted activities and therapies, SIRE riders experience the many benefits of
therapeutic horsemanship that include increased strength, improved balance, increased
flexibility, enriched social interaction, improved coordination and enhanced self-esteem.
The Sam Houston Corvette Club Inc. was founded in 1993 and is one of the largest and
longest standing Corvette Club in the Houston area. The Club’s purpose is to encourage planned
trips, events and social activities for its members; to provide and regulate events and
exhibitions for Corvette owners, and to encourage careful and skillful driving on public
highways. The Club also supports community non-profit organizations as part of its
commitment to social responsibility.

Club meetings are held at the Cypress Creek Christian Community Center. located at 6823 Cypresswood Dr. Spring, TX  usually on the second Saturday of each month, watch the Club Calendar for meeting dates.  Meeting times are 10:00 - 12:00

If you like Corvettes and socializing or want to learn more about Corvettes you're at the right place!  We are dedicated to improving your Corvette experience.  Our club offers multiple opportunities, with monthly meetings, outings and activities.

Outing to destinations to visit and eat with your fellow Club members is a great chance to meet like-minded Corvette owners.

Each month our club hosts (except for April, July, and December) a meeting with to visit, talk, and share Corvette expertise with our Club members.  Visitors are always welcomed!
