Drive and Picnic Lunch

SHCC drive and picnic lunch at Washington on the Brazos park.
Saturday, June 13, 2020.

We will meet at Buc-ee's on Hwy 290 at Farm Road (FR) 362 (Waller) at 8:30am with wheels rolling at 9:15am.
Route instructions are available on the club website. Go to the Document folder, double click on Misc folder icon,
then click on Washington maps, and download the driving route maps. You can then print or use in Google Maps
to follow the route.  Maps will not be handed out the day of the drive.

There is no food available at the park so either bring lunch, or pick something up at Buc-cee's

We will be driving south on FR 362, zigzagging around to the south side of Chappell Hill for a pit stop. (About 55 minutes from Buc-ee's).

Then, continuing another 30 minutes with the turns on FR 1155 to the Washington on the Brazos site.

The picnic area is the same site that we’ve been to in the past on our club events. They have plenty of uncovered bench type tables plus two separate covered areas with bench type tables.

I recommend that everone bring lawn chairs and we can sit in groups under shade trees if anyone wants to do so.  Since we will be packing our own lunch and drinks, our cooler tops could be our personal table, and we can set up anywhere we like! This would be a good backup plan and some people might want to do this anyway.

The staff informed us that we must stay within the Coronavirus distance guidelines which is groups of 10 or less. The uncovered bench tables appear to seat six people, possibly eight, comfortably. There are restrooms on this site also. There is not a fee for the picnic areas of the site. Fees are $8 for the Museum visit. Face masks are required for visitors inside all the buildings!

There are four outside bench tables by the Museum for people who like the inside air conditioned restrooms! There were only two of these tables open today and I’m sure it would be difficult to see all of these opened for us on a Saturday.

Please register on the club website or send an email to me at celerv@prodigy.net.
